Week 8 2019

Hello!

If you like to watch cars, this coming weekend, Castillon hosts the 6eme Rallye Bordeaux Aquitaine Classic.

Over 100 cars, in various classifications race around the Castillon countryside. The course changes each year, to see where it will go in 2019 click here.

The cars will meet up initially in the centre of Castillon on Friday afternoon. To see full details and information visit the website here. I shall certainly try and catch up with it somewhere.

Week 7 2019

Hello!

We're having some wonderful mild weather and now’s the time to set your hornet traps. They are easy to build and amazingly successful, just don’t empty them out, top them up with more bait, it’s true, nothing seems to be more effective at attracting another hornet, than a trapped one! Though the first traps should be laced with a mixture of beer, dry white wine and syrup (grenadine flavour is good, but any sweet syrup will work). The beer and syrup attract the hornet and the white wine will repel the bees.
One per garden is sufficient, but I think I'll put one out in the front garden, and one out in the back garden.

Week 7 2019

2 - 28 February : There's a lovely free exhibition on in St Emilion until the end of February. It's in the UdP which is just off the road between Libourne and Castillon. Take advantage of the sunshine, wander round the village and drop in and check out the art.
