Week 26 2020

Hello!

So who doesn't like chocolate?  Especially chocolates from the Maison Guinguet in Duras.  They now have a bigger and better production workshop and boutique.  Did you know that you can visit the chocolaterie from 6 July?  Visits are daily at 10h in French and 11h in English throughout July and August.  €3/child 6-12 years and €5/ adult from 13 years old.  If you can't wait until 6 July, the boutique is already open.  Find out more here.

Chocolates made by Maison Guinguet, plate made by me!.

You can see that our region is opening up and local business are beginning to get back to a new normal.
Whatever you do this week in the Gironde and Dordogne, keep safe and enjoy the sunshine.

Best wishes,
Helen

Week 25 2020

Hello!

This weekend brings with it the annual Fete de la Musique which is traditionally held on the 21 June as it's the longest day.  Covid 19 restrictions still prevent large group events, but the Ministry of Culture is encouraging everyone to head outside into their gardens on balconies at 20h on Sunday to play music and sing traditional French songs.

There is also live music being played in and around venues nearby.  Go ahead, join the music, but please behave responsibly.

Whatever you do in the Gironde and Dordogne region, take care and keep safe.

Best wishes,
Helen

Week 24 2020

Hello!

Here's a throwback photo from 2018:

I don't think that St Jean de Blaignac will be holding any night markets this summer.  But I do know that some villages are planning to.  Villefranche de Longchat has announced that they hope to start from mid July.

If you hear about your local night market plans, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Enjoy your new found freedom in the Gironde and Dordogne regions, please take care and be safe.

Best wishes,
Helen

Week 24

La Taverne du Belvedere - spacious terrace, spectacular view

La Taverne du Belvedere - Juillac

It was a celebrative opening at the Taverne this Tuesday!  Couples with children enjoyed their first outing since confinement: a sense of freedom on the spacious terrace, the gorgeous view of the entire valley and Carol’s authentic recipes.

As always, the Taverne’s relaxed and warm atmosphere makes it a perfect place to catch up with a friend over a beer or a glass of wine; for couples seeking a cozy evening; for families to relax as young children tuck into their own menu.  Above all a place for neighbours; for the young in heart of all ages.

Come enjoy a glass or a meal:  outdoor seating, proper hygiene measures and ample space between tables.    In case of rain, a covered terrace!

Open Tuesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner; Sunday lunch.

05 24 24 75 92 or Facebook  @tavernebelvedere.   Reservations highly recommended.
