A page to visit to find out what's happening in the Gironde and Dordogne area, what's going on, what to do, what to see and where to go each week and throughout the year.
France will re-enter lockdown on Friday and it will remain in place until at least 1st December 1.
From the Mairie in Castillon:
It seems that pottery workshops are considered non-essential, therefore all those booked for November will be postponed. Sorry for the inconvenience, though I will continue to make in the atelier in Sauveterre during the lockdown period. If you have any requests or enquiries, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Don't forget to change your clocks this weekend. Put them back and hour on Saturday night, and you can have an hour extra in the morning on Sunday. It does mean though, that sunset is an hour sooner and the days suddenly seem so short.
And here's our hen working up to making the announcement...
Wishing you a safe and sound week in the Gironde and Dordogne regions.

A cluster or clutter (I love a collective noun!) of spiders from a pottery birthday party in Sauveterre.
The November / December planning for themed workshops is available. Please call ahead to reserve a place on the workshops. I'm also offering family workshops, and bring a group of friends sessions. These make excellent gifts if you're looking for Christmas ideas. Call me : 06 30 89 85 36
As the autumn really sets in, I gathered the last of the roses, and the last of the rhubarb - some of which will make it into the freezer. This is the first time we have managed to grow rhubarb...

This looks like a good idea. I wish I'd know about this when we got our new hens last month. Especially as there is another opportunity on 28th October in Mouliets et Villemartin.
The association "Poule pour tous" offers individuals the opportunity to save a reformed hen by buying it for 7 €. #poulepourtous is organising a big event for the adoption of 18-month-old red-haired laying hens in Saint Seurin sur l'Isle on Saturday 17 October from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, at 56 route de Bordeaux. Organic and free-range hen breeders are obliged to renew their flock as soon as they are 18 months old. Thus, in order to avoid them leaving for the slaughterhouse prematurely, #poulepourtous is looking for adoptive families for them. These chickens will lay 5 to 6 eggs per week for another 3 or 4 years! If you wish to adopt some, go quickly to https://www.poulepourtous.com/planning-des-ventes/ to make your reservation!
I'm so excited to be working full time out of my new pottery studio! Workshops and pottery sessions are underway and I'm offering a whole host of activities to give you time to relax and take time for yourself, your friends and your family.
Studio hours match those of the boutique (more or less) with a couple of evening sessions, a perfect time to gather a group of friends after work hours.
Tuesday & Thursday 14h30 - 21h
Wednesday, Friday & Saturday 10h - 18h
Access is via the shop. The person on the desk will be one of the other artisans and they will direct you up the stairs, but take time to discover the beautiful arts and crafts for sale in the boutique
Find the Maison des Artisans in the corner of the square in Sauveterre de Guyenne, opposite the Tourist Office.
I look forward to seeing you, just pop in and say hello, there's coffee and homemade cookies too!
Whatever you do in the Gironde and Dordogne region, have a great week,
On 1st of June a crazy localised storm brought down a tree in the stream that borders our garden, it blocked the road and took down the electricity! (Typical bank holiday event...) Finally this week, the remains of the trunk and the root ball were removed from the stream. It was no easy task.
