Week 12 2021

Hello!

French partridge
Many thanks for all your messages about the pretty little bird in the garden last week.  Turns out it is a red-legged partridge, sometimes known as a French partridge.

I don't know whether it's because the river road is closed, or curfew restrictions (or both) but we have significantly less traffic, and the wildlife is moving in, I've even seen a fox in our garden for the first time this week - not at all ideal for the hens.

Don't forget, the clocks spring forward this week, coinciding nicely with the extension of the curfew to 7pm.  An extra hour of sunlight in the evening to get out into the garden.

Whatever you do in the Gironde and Dordogne regions this week, keep well and safe.
Best wishes,
Helen

Week 12 and beyond...

There are also Vide Greniers up and running.

The association of the Friends of the MediathèqueQuartier Latin du Bénin resumes the vide grenier. they will be at the Libourne flea market in front of the Maboul car park.

And finally...

This Saturday 27 March pottery workshop in Sauveterre is about making a personalised plaque. It could be a bedroom door sign... or laundry room... or bar!  It could be a house number or name sign... it could be a birthday message... or an anniversary... or something motivational.  There's no limit to your imagination, oh and the size it's about 18cmx18cm.

Here's a very basic example for my studio door.

Contact me to book a place, or if you and some friends would like to come another time to make one don't hesitate to get in touch. 06 30 89 85 36

Week 11 2021

 Hello!

Heading home from the studio I potted this bird happily wandering round the garden.  It broke into more of a trot as I approached, but showed no sign of trying to fly.

Any idea what it is? I'd love to know.

In other news... we sit tight, take care, keep safe and have a good week in the Gironde and Dordogne regions.

Best wishes,
Helen

Week 11 and onwards...

And finally...

The Maison des Artisans is pulling together a programme throughout the year of artisan workshops. We have a calendar for March, rolling into April.  The workshops are open to all, with no experience necessary.

We are also opening the Maison des Artisans to host workshops from artisans who are not part of the association, welcoming them to host their workshops in our building. We currently have a spinning workshop that is rolling out over this month.

If you are interested in holding a workshop in Sauveterre, or know of someone who would like to run workshops, but doesn't have a place big enough, don't hesitate to get in touch.

Week 10 2021

Hello!

Are you missing live music?  Libourne is helping to raise your spirits, they already have live musicians performing from the windows of the Mairie over the market square on Sundays, and now HK will be in Libourne next Saturday ( the 13th), on the quayside at 3pm to make us dance again!!! on the invitation of Gilles Toulet, from Baz'Arts. Dancing and showing our existence together 😀.

See them in this video

Whatever you do this week in the Gironde and Dordogne region, keep safe and keep well.

Best wishes,
Helen

Week 10 and onwards...

And finally...

I'm delighted to share the piggybanks from the February holiday pottery workshops. Such talented potters from grandchildren through to grandparents.

But what do you call a group of pigs?  According to Google... A group of pigs is called a drift or drove. A group of young pigs is called a litter. A group of hogs is called a passel or team. A group of swine is called a sounder.

PS. Pottery workshops continue in Sauveterre.  Give me a call if you want to know more.  Private sessions, workshops and parties are all available.

Week 9 2021

Hello!

Would you like to help out at this year's Tour de France?  See all the action up close?

Libourne is looking for volunteers.  Follow this link to sign up to offer your services.

It looks like it might be a whole lot of fun.  You don't need to commit to the whole 2 days, they ask for a minimum of 4 hours.

Whatever you do this week in the sunshine, keep safe and well.

Best wishes,
Helen

Week 9 and onwards...

This looks a lovely addition to the big Sunday Farmers Market in Libourne:

And finally...

The theme pottery workshops in Sauveterre for March and April are here to see.  No previous experience is necessary. Call or message me to reserve a place as numbers are limited.

If you see a workshop that interests you, or you have a project in mind, don't hesitate to get in touch, there's plenty of flexibility for dates and times.

Gather a group of friends or family (up to 4 friends) and come and have a pottery session.  You can't go out to coffee, but you can go out to pottery ... and I'll offer you a coffee!

The session on 20th March is a double 2 hour session, make and decorate a clay fish with me and in the other hour make a felted fish from wool with Dorothea.  We'll put them together to make a hanging decoration in time for 1st April.
