Week 47 2021

 Hello!

Christmas is creeping up on us and I have 2 lovely Saturday pottery workshops to get you in the mood. The first one is on Saturday 27th November where you can make a set of napkin rings to decorate your winter table, choose your design and colours to match your theme.

The second is on Saturday 4th December and you can make a fun apero dish in the form of a snowman.

Please get in touch to book a place.  If you want a session on a different date, or perhaps you have visitors over the Christmas period and are looking for a fun activity, give me a call and we can set something up. 06 30 89 85 36

Whatever you do in the Gironde and Dordogne regions, keep safe and well and have a good week.

Best wishes,
Helen

And finally...

A big Thank You to Norauto in Pineuilh by the Leclerc.  I went there last week to buy a replacement bulb for the headlight on my car and the fabulous staff fitted it for me there and then, I didn't even ask, and they didn't charge anything other than the price of the bulb!  Now that's service.

Week 46 2021

Hello!

I've just had my youngest visitor into the pottery studio. Her talented mum had been coming to the pottery workshops and now she bought her daughter to make her first foray into the world of clay!

What a fabulous way to make a first impression!  And of course a great memory to keep or to share with friends and family. Imagine a row of footprints on the wall tracking the growing up journey.

Christmas is creeping up on us... if you have a Christmas market or event (we do like a Christmas concert) listed, please don't hesitate to get in touch, send an email notjustfortheholidays@orange.fr

Whatever you do in the Gironde and Dordogne regions, keep safe and have a great week.

Best wishes,
Helen

Week 45 2021

 Hello!

I've heard the cranes flying overhead in the night time, but I haven't seen any this year.  Is this normal that they fly through the night? I had thought that they took rest stops and overnighted at lakes and marshlands.

This is a photo from a few years ago.  The cranes make a distinctive noise as they fly overhead, I'm wondering if they are flying at night because they are making their migration so late in the year?

The sun continues to shine, so have a great week in the Gironde and Dordogne regions.
Best wishes,
Helen

Week 45

11 November - Jour Ferie in France - Armistice Day, on each November 11th, France pays tribute to fighters and victims of the First World War.  You will probably see that the monument to fallen soldiers in your town or village will have a wreath placed there and many places have a small ceremony at 11 am. Find out a little more about the history here.

12 November - These are the fabulous couple who designed my logo and flyers.

And finally...

The leafy hedgehog pottery workshop was cancelled last year due to covid restrictions. But it's back this year and it's a perfect autumn project.

Make and decorate the hedgehog with autumn leaves, colour mixing the autumn tones on each leaf.  A fun project.

There are still some places left for the afternoon sessions.  Or if you'd like to bring a group of up to 4 people on a different day, get in touch and we can set up a session.

And another thing... I learnt that when you say "Les hérissons" in French, you don't mush the words together and swallow the 'h', instead the 's' is silent and you go straight into hérissons... (sounds a bit like 'lay errison'... and of course you don't pronounce the final 's') Hummmm, just when I think I might have got a bit better in French, along comes another curved ball!
