Hello!
It's the perfect time to celebrate the start of the growing season. What a treat to cut and cook the first artichokes of the year.
I like mine dipped in salad dressing, but butter works well too... served from a home made dish. How do you like yours?
So much going on in the region, including another bank holidays, so here's a bumper 2 week episode.
Whatever you do in the Gironde and Dordogne regions, have a great time.
Week 18
5 May
6 May
7 May
8 May - Jour férié - WWII Victory Day (la fête de la victoire, le jour de la libération) is a holiday to celebrate the end of World War II and the French people's freedom. It is the anniversary of when Charles de Gaulle announced the end of World War II in France on May 8, 1945.
Week 19
And finally...
The May and June pottery workshop programme is available.
Starting with an open air stand in Sauveterre for the Medieval festival on 15th May. A day full of activities and traditional craft demonstrations in the heart of the bastide town. It's worth coming along, even if only to see me dressed up in full medieval costume! (The outfit I wore to be a 'Woman of the Well' at the Battle of Castillon isn't a patch on the one I have for this day!)
Come and stick your hands into red clay for a change.
