Week 3 2013

Hello!

Looking across the river when we’ve had so much rain, the river is really high and wide and ever changing.  A look at the weather forecast for the coming week sends me scurrying off for my coat and scarf.

When the weather is miserable outside it’s an excellent time to get all those indoor jobs sorted – clearing out cupboards is one of them.  But what to do with the unwanted items that you find.  One solution is to take them to the Recyclerie at Pessac and the other is to advertise them on the ‘For Sale’ page on this blog.  For further information contact me on the email address below.

In the mean time – happy cupboard clearing and keep warm.

Best wishes,
Helen

And finally...

Since July 2012 it was mandatory for all cars to carry a breathalyser (theoretically you need two  – one to use and a spare so that you always have one to use…) but this won’t be rigorously enforced until March 2013.  However there is debate about whether this will actually come into effect and is currently under evaluation by the Conseil National de la Securite Routiere.  Read more here http://www.huffingtonpost.fr/2012/11/27/vers-la-fin-de-lethylotes_n_2195616.html

  1. I decided from the start that I would rather pay the €11 fine than buy these tests. The law was the result of massive lobbying by an association whose president just happened to work for the firm manufacturing the tests.......Looks like the Hollande government will at last take a popular decision!
