Week 22 2015

Hello!

This is the week when you should try and make time to go to Bordeaux and join in with the Fete de la Fleuve on the waterfront.

The festival opened with an amazing show on the water with fireworks, lasers and of course boats, yachts and ships. Find out more at the website here http://www.bordeaux-fete-le-fleuve.com/ or go to their Facebook page Bordeaux Fête le Fleuve.

It only happens every 2 years, so try and find a time to go. By the way… much discussion has been had about the difference between a ‘fleuve’ and a ‘riviere’… to date, no definitive conclusions have been drawn, but I’m always open to suggestions.

Whatever you do this week, have a great time in the Gironde and Dordogne regions.
Best wishes,
Helen

Week 20 1015

Hello!

Acacia donuts
I always feel that the open day at Chateau de Bonhoste heralds the arrival of summer and this year was no disappointment.  There really were hundreds of people celebrating the delicious local foods and drinks.

There were carriage rides through the vines, music from the Bandas and a jazz group, and the most seasonal of all desserts – acacia donuts.

I’m starting to collect dates for night markets in the Dordogne and Gironde regions this summer, so if your village is holding one, or you have a favourite you’d like to recommend, please don’t hesitate to let me know at the address below.

Best wishes for a good week – watch out for the ‘pont’,

Helen
