Week 48 2015

Hello!

They said you couldn’t keep a good thing down for very long.  This week the new association for the Battle of Castillon has been formed.  All interested parties are invited to go along and be part of the new venture on Friday 27th November at the the Salle Municipal in Belves de Castillon.

I lost count of how many people told me they were sorry that there was no more Battle as last year was the very year they were going to go!  So, let’s hope this is the start of a new and improved Battle (perhaps England will win!!!)  And even if you can’t take part, please remember... come the summer, go and see a show.

Best wishes for a chilly week in the Gironde and Dordogne regions,
Helen

Week 47 2015

Hello!

Do you know that book ‘Where’s Wally?’ It’s where you have to look at the illustrations packed with all sorts of things and find certain items. I love that book and that’s one of the reasons I love a rummage in a brocante. The display cases are like my very own version of  Where’s Wally?

Can you find … a black cheroot holder… 12 swans… sugar nips… a blue car… 2 pairs of spectacles… a yellow light bulb… a cigar cutter… a collapsible ruler… a red rose… 4 watches…an aeroplane… a pair of compasses…blue and yellow flippers… a whiskey pourer…5 folding pen-knives and a thing for getting bits out of the horses hooves.

Whatever you are doing (or looking for) this week, have a  great time in the Gironde and Dordogne regions.

Best wishes,

Helen

And finally…

If you are looking for a way to send Christmas things over to the UK or farther afield this Christmas, you may want to take a look at Sendmybag A quick look at the quote for France to England looks quite ‘interesting’.  Recommended by a friend (thank you CT) it looks like it might be a good solution to the ever increasing French postal costs, not to mention luggage allowance restrictions.

Week 46 2015

Hello!
Rauzan indoors...

... and outdoors.
Last weekend saw the re-opening of the winter Marche des Puces (flea market) in Rauzan.  It was both inside and outside the large hanger.  There is a restaurant as well as a bread stand and a couple of vegetable stands.  But for me, the pull of the market is the possibility that one week I’ll find a treasure.

It’s open every Sunday, all day, through until the spring.

Whatever you do this week in the Gironde and Dordogne regions, enjoy the everlasting autumn!

Best wishes,
Helen

And finally…

A perfect view for lunch.
Last week my Alistair Sawdays’ Inspector’s hat took me to a wonderful property overlooking the fairway at Chateau de Vigier.  A little slice of heaven! Vigier has recently come under new management and has great deals on green fees for locals.  Have a look here to find out more.
I had a delicious lunch in view of the 4th hole.  A golfer’s paradise.
