On Sunday 11 November France marks Armistice Day, the anniversary of the end of World War 1 and is a public holiday. Special church services are held to remember those who died in the war and wreaths and flowers are laid at war memorials, most notably at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Paris. Traditionally in the UK we wear a poppy to remember, in France they wear a bleuet (a cornflower). Find out more about this here.
Whatever you do in the Gironde and Dordogne regions, have a good week, and please keep sending in those events and activities they are much appreciated.
Best wishes,
Helen
