Live music at Gensac night market |
Hello,
I just love living here when the sun shines, everyone comes
out of hibernation, rubs the sleep from their eyes and embraces the great
outdoors … not sure, though, why I can only just write this at the beginning of
July!
The night markets are here, there’s certainly a niche in the
market for anyone who offers something more exotic than melon as a starter, and
don’t forget to take a bottle of water with you (even if it’s just to rinse
your hands after aforementioned melon )

Week 27
The Angels’ Share is
playing all week in VO at the Grandecran in Libourne.
Monday 2 July
2 July 16h & 19h40 : The Angel’s Share (La Part des Anges) is showing in VO (Scottish)
at Libourne Grandecran.
This bitter sweet comedy follows protagonist Robbie as he
sneaks into the maternity hospital to visit his young girlfriend Leonie and
hold his newborn son Luke for the first time. Overwhelmed by the moment, he
swears that Luke will not have the same tragic life he has had. Escaping a
prison sentence by the skin of his teeth, he's given one last chance......While
serving a community service order, he meets Rhino, Albert and Mo who, like him,
find it impossible to find work because of their criminal records. Little did
Robbie imagine how turning to drink might change their lives - not cheap
fortified wine, but the best malt whiskies in the world. Will it be 'slopping
out' for the next twenty years, or a new future with 'Uisge Beatha' the 'Water
of Life?' Only the angels know........

There's an organisation called Que Choisir in Port Ste
Foy and they are a bit like Citizens' Advice Bureau. I think one would describe
it as 'consumer rights'.
They are only there on a Saturday morning, often from
9.30am it's 'manned' by retired lawyers and the like. They can help with any
legal issues you have and will write letters on your behalf as it gives more
gravitas if it comes from an organisation.
They charge a one off annual fee of €26 for a person for
their services
UFC Que Choisir
52 rue Jules Ferry
Port Ste Foy
Tel: 0553 63 25 31 (Saturday mornings only)
At the Intermarché roundabout take the turning to Montpon then park on the right before the first set of lights. On the right is the Biblioteque and just round the corner is a door which says 'Que Choisir'. They are only there on Saturday mornings and while the sign on the door says it starts at 10am it’s wise to arrive earlier.
