At Issigeac fair

Hooray!  The sun has got his hat on...

We went to the willow weaving fair in Issigeac, there was lots to see, incuding some lovely sculptural pieces as well as every kind of basket shape you could think of... and of course I came away with a basket.

Driving through Castillon is not for those in a hurry right now, the road works will last at least 6 months.  If you are approaching from Ste Foy direction, I recommend turning left off the main road just after Lamothe Montravel and following the river road into Castillon.  (It goes past the Talbot Monument).  This road will bring you out at a little bridge by the camping site in Castillon.  From there stay by the river, then cross over the stone bridge, turn right at the Plage and then back over the metal bridge, and follow the signs for Libourne and it will bring you out at Leclerc.

Another option is to continue into Castillon (from Lamonthe) and at the Leader Price store turn right, over the railway bridge and turn left and continue along this road ( it has some speed humps) following the route of the railway line.

Cross over one little crossroads and continue to the MAIN road Castillon to St Genes de Castillon D17.

If you turn left here it will only take you back into the centre of Castillon so I suggest that you continue straight over and take the next on the left which comes out at the roundabout by Leclerc. (Thank you AW)

The Battle of Castillon starts this weekend.  I'm a great fan and if you haven't been to see it yet, then you really should, and if you have - well it changes a little every year and there's always something new to see.

The little Bateau de Promenade at Ste Foy has been launched - and the Promenades are in the afternoon. However it's best for people to check the timings etc. with the Bureau de Tourisme 0557 46 03 00.

One more thing ... I received this plea about a lost dog...

This little dog is about 3 to 5 years old, very well behaved but lost. His micro chip is not french. No shelter can take him that I have tried, only the SPA, we are running out of time to find him a new home. Can you or anyone else you know help either by giving us info on shelters or offering him a home or temporary adoption? Contact :sarahwalters@me.com
