Hello!
We had a fabulous evening at the Plage at Castillon last
Thursday. The Plage is the little
restaurant under the stone Bridge at Castillon.
It’s only open in June, July and August every year. They have a menu made up of salads and steak,
duck, sausage and fish with their delicious home made chips. But it’s the location and the ambience that
make the venue work.
On Thursday evenings there is live music, and look no
further for a stage than on top of the bar!
The Romano Dandies played a foot tapping range of music from traditional
jazz, to melodies from ‘Chocolat’, to gypsy style tunes. Great fun!
Each Thursday through August there will be a different group. It’s a great evening – but book ahead.

Whatever you do this week, have a great time in the Gironde
and Dordogne regions.
Best wishes,
Helen

And finally…
A Message from Ron Marsh ronald.marsh@wanadoo.fr
Franco British Week, 23 August to 1 September.
Now you can start filling
up the squares on your calendar as I suggest last week and start thinking about
what you would like to do and very important, to make reservations for your
preferred events.
The full programme can be
downloaded from our web site www.francobritishweek.com but I would high light groups of events which might
interest you.
Are you a sport lover,
either as a participant or spectator? On
the mornings of Tuesday 26 August at the Tennis Club Foyen at Porte Ste Foy and
29 August at the Tennis Club de Pineuilh there will be friendly mixed
international teams competitions, both followed with a picnic.
Have you always wanted to
try to hit a golf ball? At our grand
picnic on Sunday 1 September the club professional from Vigiers will be happy
to instruct you, but please do not slice the ball as I did and nearly
decapitated a friend!!
Also at the picnic there
will be a petanque competition with mixed national teams selected on the
day. Do you think you can match your
French friends?
On the evening of Friday
29 August at the Restaurant Bambou to can enjoy an evening of fish and chips
with a darts competition – how more British can that be so why not introduce
your French friends to this most British of events.
More to follow.
Ron Marsh.
