Week 32 2015

Hello!
Go Froom...e!

This is Christophe Froome’s long awaited French race!  For one day only he will be racing at the world famous Critérium in Castillon-la-Bataille.  Shrouded in secrecy, the publicity shy Critérium has done itself proud this year! But… thanks to the Castillon Tourist Office I have a map of the route to share and further information to help you plan a visit.

Thank you to Castillon Tourist Office for the map.

The winner's podium
The race takes the form of 30 laps of the 3km circuit marked with red arrows.  The race itself starts at 17h.  Though the whole event will start at 9am when the roads will be closed (I think) and the area to the right of the green circle will be filled with activity. Driving along the route today, the flags were up and the names in true cycling tradition, had already been painted on the roads.

Entrance to watch the race and have ‘access most areas’ is €17 per person.  This allows you to wander the length of the course and be a whisker away from the cyclists.  It is suggested that you park in the village and walk up to course, take the road towards the train station, and then turn left. Parking at Leader Price will allow you to follow the road up behind the train line and get in that way.

The critérium has a web page https://criteriumcastillonlabataille.wordpress.com/ and feel free to contact M. Georges BARRIERE 06 86 83 28 12 barriere@hotmail.fr criterium.clb@gmail.com
for more information.

If you go, and take any photos I’d love to see them.  We might even go too.

Whatever you do, in the Gironde and Dordogne regions this week, have a great time.

Best wishes, and many thanks for all the kind words and messages about the chickens.  They will be replaced.

Helen
