THE CLUB DES ENTREPRISES DU PAYS FOYEN
HAS THE PLEASURE TO INVITE YOU TO THE
10TH FRANCO – BRITISH WEEK
From Saturday 22nd to Saturday 29th August 2015

The Franco – British Week is a unique event of its kind, conceived in 2006 by the Club des Entreprises du Pays Foyen (CEPF).  Why is it unique?  Because it is the only one of its kind in France to take  place over an entire week!
Conceived to promote exchange and integration between the local French population and the community of the British resident in Pays Foyen - Gurson – Montravel, the FBW aims to bring together these communities and be a “melting pot” for enjoyable and lasting encounters.  The CEPF invites you to enjoy the events with neighbours, friends, alone or with family.  There is no need to be shy: everything has been organised such that language is no barrier to enjoyment and conviviality!

This year our Franco British Week celebrates its 10th anniversary!

This year we propose a very wide range of events, recreational, sporting, cultural, festive and gourmand, which will take place from Saturday 22nd to Saturday 29th August, throughout the entire greater region of Pays Foyen.  You will find in FBW programme full details of all events and you can collect the programmes in shops and businesses, the local town halls, the Tourist Office in Ste. Foy la Grande, and it can also be down loaded on line from our web site www.cepf.fr following FBW.  Don’t forget to reserve your places!
During the entire week, in the gallery Paul Broca, is an exhibition of the art works of two lady artists who live in the Pays Foyen region. A British artist, Juliana Uhart, and the other a French artist, Anne-Christine Robinet.  Also in the gallery will be a number of last year’s award winning hats, based on the typical French straw hat or the English Bowler hat.
In addition to our traditional events, the friendly tennis matches, the grand picnic ”your plate is my plate”,  with its many enjoyable events, including the live swing orchestra and our traditional customised hat competition, a quiz night, a darts night with its fish and chips supper, the FBW team bring many new festivities, overflying Pays Foyen in a hot air balloon or light aircraft from the aerodrome: a regional gourmand and wine market in Pineuilh: a bridge tournament in St. Antoine de Breuilh: trips in London taxi cabs: a visit to Chateau Pierrail in Marguron, with its classified gardens followed by a wine tasting of the chateau’s wine: a spot the location  of photographs in the bastide of Ste. Foy la Grande: a grand tournament of petanque at the club of Porte Ste. Foy: a barbeque – karaoke evening at the Petite Auberge in Margueron: boat trips on the Dordogne: an evening at the cinema followed by a paella on the terrace of la Breche: an afternoon specially for the children with many games and events: a performance by the Foyenne team which participated in “Trophee Roses des Sables”: discover drumming with Christian Lajus in Porte Ste. Foy: a concert of music from around the world, in the Protestant Temple, with the flautists of d’Atarah Ben Tovim CBE.: an English afternoon tea with French – English conversation on various themes, in Ste. Foy and St. Antoine de Breuilh: an introduction to golf at Chateau des Vigiers: as well as many surprising animations in the shops in the Commune des Communes.
The week will close with a gala evening on Saturday 29th August with its fine ambiance of swing, conviviality and good food.  In the course of the evening there will be a  SPECIAL TOMBOLA, celebrating the 10 YEARS OF the FBW: with a 1st prize of a trip of 3 days/2 nights to any town of your choice  in England, offered by the travel agent VAC’DOR.
I must express our thanks to our volunteer team, French and British, who put in much work to provide for you such an attractive programme!  But also to our businesses, entrepreneurs, our members and sponsors, who are not the last to support us, come quickly and see them.
Join in the festival of Greater Pays Foyen….with 10th anniversary of the FBW.
Sylvie FEYDEL, presidente du CEPF.

And finally…

We have been so spoilt with all the wonderful weather, it came as rather a shock to have a rainy weekend! ‘What can we do if it rains?’ was the cry for help from all corners?  For adults it’s all rather straightforward, there are so many beautiful château to visit and wines to taste.  One of the most stunning is Chateau de la Riviere http://www.chateau-de-la-riviere.com/ Stunning views, amazing caves, and the wine’s not bad either…

But what do you do with children on a rainy day, I’m at a loss, so I’m sending out a plea as it looks like we may have another rainy weekend coming up.  Please, any suggestions greatly received, where can you go, what can you visit and what can you do in the Dordogne and Gironde regions with children on a rainy day?

Don’t hesitate to get in touch with a comment or an email notjustfortheholidays@orange.fr and if there’s lots of ideas I’ll make a special page.  Thank you.
