Week 41 2015

Hello!

The first Sunday of every month is car free in the centre of Bordeaux, so we headed over there to have a wander round.  For easiest access, take the tram.

We ended up in the St Pierre area where they have a huge flea market spread all around the square.  It seems anything goes… there was even a giraffe for sale!

But what’s with the big red ball?  All suggestions welcome.  They were inflating it when we arrived and it stayed there all morning.  Find out here.

Monday 5 October

5 – 15 October : Salon d’automne at the Salle Gothic in St Emilion.  There are some very talented artists exhibiting their canvases.

Tuesday 6 October

7 October : St Julien d'Eymet Craft Group are holding a Coffee Afternoon in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care.  All welcome.  Go along and support this worthwhile cause.

Thursday 8 October

8 October 20h30 : Youth is showing in VO at La Breche in Ste Foy la Grande

Fred and Mick, two old friends, are on vacation in an elegant hotel at the foot of the Alps. Fred, a composer and conductor, is now retired. Mick, a film director, is still working. They look with curiosity and tenderness on their children's confused lives, Mick's enthusiastic young writers, and the other hotel guests. While Mick scrambles to finish the screenplay for what he imagines will be his last important film, Fred has no intention of resuming his musical career. Friday 9 October

9 October 20h45 : Amy is showing in VO at La Breche cinema in Ste Foy la Grande.

The story of Amy Winehouse in her own words, featuring unseen archival footage and unheard tracks.

9 - 10 – 11 October : The Grande Brocante in Rauzan.  Lasting 3 days and taking over the hangar and the street surrounding it, it’s worth a visit.  Entrance €2.50.  There’s a shuttle bus to take you from the parking  to the antiques fair.

10 October 19h30 : Apero-repas concert at the Salle des fetes in St Florence

10 – 11 October : Fete de la Photo in St Seurin sur l’Isle.  Photo exhibition from 10 local photography clubs.

10 – 11 October : St Martin de Gurson hosts the Festival Country.

10 – 11 October : Marche de Gout at the Clotre de l’eglise de St Emilion – Behind the Tourist office.  Over 20 artisanal food producers sell and showcase their produce.

And finally…

It’s true… Les Guinots is fighting to continue production of their wonderful sparkling wine.  It’s taken a big chunk of my morning, but I think that the i-petition should work! 

Please show your support by adding your name to the petition.  Once Terroirs Vins et Découvertes  realise there is a following for the fizz we can try and convince them to continue the production.
