Castillon is still a no-go zone. The project to enlarge and reinforce the
drainage system is continuing. As I
understand, the ‘pile of rocks’ fountain and crossroads were built over an existing
water course and when it rained in Castillon the man-made conduit couldn’t cope
with the volume of water (not unlike Leclerc Carpark!) So, the current work is replacing the old
drainage pipes with much bigger ones and along the way they have knocked down a
house and removed the fountain. Only a
couple more weeks to go and the road will be open again in both directions.
The clocks go back during the night on Saturday, so an extra
hour in bed on Sunday morning!
