Week 30 2014

Hello!

WOW! The skies above Castillon have been filled with flashing lights this week – some good and some not so good! The beginning of the week opened with one of the most amazing firework displays I have ever seen. Castillon spared no expense with a fabulous light show over the stone bridge. We were on the bridge and at one point it felt like we were in the middle of the firework itself! Bravo Castillon!

The electric light show over Castillon at the end of the week was not so good. The severe storms that enveloped Castillon on Friday and Saturday night lead to the cancellation of the first 2 performances of the Battle of Castillon. If you had tickets to these shows then please contact the Battle Office on 05 57 40 49 02, go to the office in Castillon (just at the foot of the church) or by email info@batailledecastillon.com (English is fine). An extra performance has been scheduled for Thursday 24^th July to cope with the ticket transfers.

Let’s hope that this week the light shows are more moderate, though we have a Super Full Moon due on 10^th August.

Whatever you do this week in the Gironde and Dordogne regions, have a great week – but don’t leave home without a brolly!

23 July : The first of the open rehearsals for the Summer Season for the Gironde Chamber Orchestra. They take place at the Salle Polyvalente, behind the tennis courts in Gensac. http://ocg.gensac.fr/

The Festival de Gensac presented by the Chambre Orchestra of Gironde under the direction of Scott Sandmeier, will present the 27^th edition of classical music programmes for all to enjoy. Concerts this year will take place in La Pouyade, Gensac , Pellegrue, St Vincent de Pertignas and for the first time in the village of Grezillac. You can also sit in on rehearsals from Wednesday 23 July and the programme for these will be available on the orchestra web site at www.ocg.gensac.fr
