Week 5 2016

Hello!

There I was, meeting friends for a cup of coffee in a village in the heart of the Entre Deux Mers when I saw these trees! All around the Place in the centre of the village the trees were all wrapped up in woollen vests!

Where was I? But more to the point… Why are the trees wrapped up?  Is it to keep them warm?  Are they leftover Christmas decorations?  Is there a phantom knitter in the vicinity? I’m more than curious! If you know, please let me know… and which village is it?

Whatever you do this week in the Gironde and Dordogne regions, have a great time.

Best wishes,
Helen

Week 3 2016

Hello!

You know we have had a lot of rain when the rowing club pontoon in Castillon is higher than the quayside!
Outside the Rowing Club in Castillon.
As we watch the water rising from our house, I don’t think the river has been this high for this long since 2009.

Keep dry and keep warm, and if you haven’t seen the Star Wars film yet, it’s out everywhere in VO this week.

Whatever you do and see in the Gironde and Dordogne regions, have a great week.

Best wishes,
Helen

And finally… did you know…?

The Number 47 bus in Bordeaux is the little bus that takes the route following the blue line painted on the road in the centre.  There are only 2 official stops – the 2 terminus, Victoire and Quinconces.  Anywhere along the blue line you can stick out your hand and stop the bus and get on, or off.

The route takes you through the back street of the old town, your very own tour, all for the price of one tramway/bus ticket. The bus runs from 9h to 19h45 and a bus comes along every 12 – 15 minutes.  No buses on Sunday though, except the first Sunday of the month (car-free Sunday)
