Week 13 2013

Hello!

So far we have caught 2 Asiatic hornet queens, one in a trap, and one was in our house – it must have hibernated somewhere inside and was looking for a way out.  Last year there were quite a few hornet nests in the trees alongside the river, hopefully this year there will be less.  If you don’t have a trap out in your garden, now is the ideal time to get them out.  To see how to make a trap go to http://notjustfortheholidays.blogspot.fr/2013/02/week-8-2013.html

The beautiful weather also meant that the carnival in Pays Foyen last weekend was a great success with lots of colourful floats.  Many thanks to JT from http://www.albayarns.com for her beautiful photos.

Easter weekend coming up, next Monday is a holiday – a 3 day weekend with plenty of events to choose from.  The funfair in Castillon means that the stone bridge is closed for much of Monday.  There is also the Baseball Tournament in Pineuilh, and Duras has a great many events planned, go to http://www.paysdeduras.com/ to see the programme.

Whatever you do in the Gironde and Dordogne region, have a great week, I love to hear from you and share your photos,

Best wishes,

Helen
