Week 36 2013

Hello,
Castillon by the river

The beautiful weather, and the knowledge that the night market season is drawing to a close lead us out in force to both the last Castillon night market and the only Doulezon one. They were equally entertaining and well supported.  One of the nice things is that you can buy the really local wines at
these events.
Doulezon under cover
Sunday took us off to the vide grenier in Blasimon which started in the village square and sprawled out in the surrounding streets and into the shady park behind the Salle.  I managed to restrain myself from returning home with yet another glass vase…

It’s the return to school this week, but there are still plenty of events in and around the Gironde and Dordogne region.  If you hear of an event and would like me to list it, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

Have a good week,

Best wishes,

Helen

And finally…

Does anyone know a good hairdresser?  I’ve had a few queries about this, so please let me know if you have a good one.

  1. Hi Helen,

A note to recommend Marie-Christine (Barrat), the hairdresser at Rue des Jardins, Pellegrue. Tel: 0556 61 49 31.

They are up to date, there's always a buzz, with masses of books of photos of hairstyles to make it easier for the client to describe what she (and he) wants. I was originally recommended to her by the Milliner in Ste. Foy (long closed) who had participated in a fashion show with her hats and who was most impressed with the way she styled the models' hair.

If anyone does take up this recommendation I'm sure Marie-Christine would be delighted to know the information came from Not Just for the Holidays.

  2. Yes I can recommend an excellent hairdresser, Lizzie - English, ex trainer at Toni & Guy in Manchester. Lives in the 33890 postcode region, Coubeyrac near Gensac. Telephone number 06 52 49 56 58. Works from home. Try her out, you won't be disappointed!!!!! JL St Martin de Gurson.

  3. I have been going to a lovely lady called Genevive Labrue since 1997! She used to work at Claudine (which then became Isabelle) rue de Republique, St. Foy la Grande, just past the square. She now works from home in St. Phillipe de Seignal and also does house calls. 05.57.46.34.34.
