Week 44 2019

Hello!

I'm delighted with the things we made in the Pottery workshop in Sauveterre at the beginning of the month on the theme of Halloween.

There's another workshop coming up this Saturday at the Maison des Artisans in Sauveterre.  Find out more details about it below.  I'll be having one the first Saturday afternoon of the month through until Easter.

Whatever you do this week in the Gironde and Dordogne regions, have a great time.

Best wishes,
Helen

Friday 1 November - holiday

You may have seen the chrysanthemums in all the nurseries.  1st November is La Toussaint (All Saints Day) which is one of France’s public holidays.  It’s a day when the French remember their families and will travel to put flowers on the graves of their loved ones.  Not any old flower, tradition dictates chrysanthemums.

The cemetery in Mouliets et Villemartin.

And finally...

I'm holding my monthly Pottery workshop at the Maison des Ateliers in Sauveterre on Saturday 2 November afternoon from 15h - 17h.  It's an open house/portes ouvertes activity.  Come along and make an artwork with clay, starting from the shape of your hand.  It could be a bowl, or an insect, or a plaque - there is no limit to your imagination.
€5/item, all materials and firing costs included.  See you there!

Here's a throwback photo from 2013 when TF1 was filming in Castillon.

TF1 descended on the town to film scenes for a series called ‘Resistance’.
