Hello!
Braving the cold on Sunday we were rewarded with the sight of a fleet of vintage cars which had gathered together in Rauzan.

If you have any events of activities that you would like to have listed on the Newsletter, please don't hesitate to get in touch and I'll add it in.  Send flyers and posters in pdf or jpg format, or test in an email. Many thanks in advance for any contributions.

Week 7 2016

Hello!

Have you noticed the modern wine chais popping up in the region?  No longer satisfied with the traditional limestone chais, some Chateau have been delving into the design book and putting up some interesting buildings.

Here are some favourites – thank you LM for the photos. Do you recognise them?

No Newsletter for the next few weeks as we’re off on our adventures in the search of winter sun!  You can always follow our exploits on Instagram.

Back in March! Meanwhile, whatever you get up to in Gironde and Dordogne regions, have a great couple of weeks.

Best wishes,
Helen

And finally…

Last year I spent a wonderful Saturday afternoon at Pattisserie Druart in the centre of Ste Foy making a delicious and memorable Fraisier with the ever patient, charming and talented Jerome Druart.

Once again he has organised Pastry Classes running through to the end of May.  If you are interested, contact him directly, or drop into the Patisserie – it’s just across from the Mairie on the town square. If you have a group of 4 keen pastry makers, you can organise a class all for yourselves.  Its’s a wonderful way to spend an afternoon, and you get to take away your creation too!

Week 28 2015

Hello!
Made by me, with a little help from Jerome.

Did you know that at the heart of St Foy, right under our noses, is a wonderful pâtissier? With over 20 years of experience, including 3 years alongside Heston Blumenthal at The Fat Duck, Jerome Druart has finally returned to his native France and has set up shop under the Arcades in the centre of Ste Foy.

Not only does he make wonderful cakes, delicious homemade ice-creams and mouth wateringly good chocolates, he’s now sharing his knowledge with a series of patisserie courses running through from July – September.

I had the great pleasure of attending his first session ‘Autour de la Fraise’ where we learnt how to make a Fraisier (one of my all-time favourites – after anything chocolate) and strawberry marshmallow.  Jerome’s experience as a chef and a teacher gave us tips and chef’s secrets and we all left with a completed Fraisier and a stack of marshmallow!  Needless to say, the cake is all gone… - but now I know how to make another!

If you like pastries and are even just a curious cook then I suggest you take a course with Jerome, I’ll certainly be back! We were in a professional Pastry kitchen and Jerome speaks flawless English, especially useful when my technical French began to falter.

Visit http://www.patisserie-druart.com/  and https://www.facebook.com/PatisserieDruart?fref=ts to find out more, or drop into his Patisserie when you are next passing and tell him that you heard about him here, and see if you can resist an ice-cream or a cake!

Whatever you do this week in the Gironde or Dordogne regions, have a great time,
Best wishes,
Helen
