Hello!
Challenging times, but the sun is shining and most of us have gardens to hang out in. The clocks change this weekend, giving us an extra hour of sunshine to be in the garden, tending those plants or enjoying an apero!
I'm sure you all have seen the information from the government about Coronavirus, but here is the link to the information in English.

Take care and be safe.
Best wishes,

And don't forget... there's always cake!
One bowl apple cake - the easiest and most delicious cake I know. I just sprinkle flaked almonds on top for a little extra crunch.

Week 45 2015
Hello!
What a wonderful autumn we have been having. I don’t remember the last time we were sitting outside having lunch at the beginning of November. The autumn colours have been just stunning. It’s my least favourite season, but when the sun shines and the vines glow with golden leaves it’s not that bad!
There are Christmas markets coming up, if you have
information about any events that you would like me to add to the blog, please
don’t hesitate to get in touch. I can
edit during the week, so it’s not too late if you send it after I’ve posted the
newsletter.
Whatever you do this week in the Gironde and Dordogne
region, have a great time.
Best wishes,
Helen

Coming up…
Hello All
If anyone would like to place and order for the Tuesday 10th
November I will be available in your area for deliveries during the
afternoon.I am doing rolled fruit filled legs and shoulders of lamb for Christmas.
There is also the usual selection of sausage meat, chipolatas and if you would like a Christmas ham please let me know before the 15th November.
I will deliver on Tuesday 8th December.
During Christmas and up until the end of January I will not be attending any markets but I will be available to take orders for this period the butchery does not require a complete paint job this year so shut down will be not happen.
I strongly recommend that if you want something specific for Christmas that you make your orders well in advance, last year I had nothing left in the cold room and had to empty my freezer to fulfil orders for others.

Kindest regards
Helen

And finally…
I’ve come up with a delicious solution to all those apples
in season right now – it’s perfect for windfalls too.
One Bowl Apple Cake - This cake is deliciously moist and
easy to make.
Ingredients:
2 eggs
1 3/4 cups sugar
2 heaping teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 cup oil
6 medium apples
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder.
2 eggs
1 3/4 cups sugar
2 heaping teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 cup oil
6 medium apples
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder.
Directions:
·
Preheat oven to 180°C.
·
In a large bowl, mix the eggs, sugar, cinnamon
and oil.
·
Peel and slice the apples and add to mixture in
bowl (coating as you go to keep apples from turning brown.)
·
Mix together the baking powder and flour and add
to the ingredients in the bowl.
·
Mix well until all of the flour is absorbed by
the wet ingredients.
·
Pour mixture into a greased 23cm round pan.
·
Bake for approximately 55 minutes.
