Week 30 2024

 Hello!

It's July, and the Battle of Castillon is already underway - I really don't know how I missed it, I'm such a fan.  I'll be there a couple of times in August.

❝On a great site, the script and original music give the historic story its full meaning.
Thanks to the many lighting effects, you'll find yourself alternately in the intimacy of a cloister, at the heart of a large market or on a large battlefield.
Image projections, sound effects, cannon fire, pyrotechnics and special effects complete the immersion into the heart of the Middle Ages. But above all, the Battle of Castillon is a living spectacle. With hundreds of volunteer actors, soldiers, stuntmen and powerful cavalry, a great page of history unfolds live before the public.
Under the gaze of the great Eleanor of Aquitaine, young and old alike travel back to the time of the troubadours and the knights.❞

Always an amazing show, the evenings now start a little earlier at 5pm, with Le Parc AliƩnor filled with sideshows, games, demonstrations and theatrical pieces featuring the 'stars' of the Battle.

It's not too late to buy tickets to any of the performances.  Visit the site here... www.batailledecastillon.com

Whatever you do in the Gironde and Dordogne regions have a great week,
Best wishes,
Helen

Week 29 2024

 Hello!

The Castillon fireworks for Bastille Day were fabulous!

We watched them from La Plage below the stone bridge.  Almost too close to believe!

I'm having a chaotic time with my computer, so apologies if this Newsletter makes no sense at all.  I can't seem to copy and paste as usual. In theory, if you click on the header of the page, you should get directed to the most recent post.

Whatever you do in the Gironde and Dordogne regions, have a great time.
Best wishes,
Helen
