This weekend gave me one of the most beautiful and breath-taking
experiences to date, my wonderful husband and I went up in a balloon for my
birthday.
We took off from a field just outside Rauzan as the sun
was rising and sailed up into the clear skies.
Our pilot was François Pont, a charming Vigneron-Aéronaute (he’s equally
passionate about ballooning and wine) and he has been taking to the air in hot
air balloons since 1995.

We flew over Rauzan and headed south-west, over
Frontanac, and finally landing in a field near Montignac. We flew high enough to see the Dordogne
snaking out towards Bordeaux and low enough to brush the tops of trees in a
forest.
A truly amazing experience, one I can’t wait to do

4 days of golf competition and discovery of some of the
best wines of our region…
The Vigiers week is a fantastic event for lovers of golf,
wine and gastronomy. For over 10 years, Château des Vigiers organizes a week of
competition around the wines of Bergerac, Duras and Saint-Emilion. After 10
successful years, it is time for us to offer our loyal participants a new face
to this competition which attracts over 100 players per day from all over
Europe.
Tuesday 24 July
24 July 16h10: Last chance to see The Angels’ Share in VO at the Libourne Grandecran.
I went to see it, it made me laugh, it shocked me, and
sometimes I needed the French subtitles to follow the broad Scottish
accents. I came out happy – go and see what you think.
This bitter sweet comedy follows protagonist Robbie as he
sneaks into the maternity hospital to visit his young girlfriend Leonie and
hold his newborn son Luke for the first time. Overwhelmed by the moment, he
swears that Luke will not have the same tragic life he has had. Escaping a
prison sentence by the skin of his teeth, he's given one last chance......While
serving a community service order, he meets Rhino, Albert and Mo who, like him,
find it impossible to find work because of their criminal records. Little did
Robbie imagine how turning to drink might change their lives - not cheap
fortified wine, but the best malt whiskies in the world. Will it be 'slopping
out' for the next twenty years, or a new future with 'Uisge Beatha' the 'Water
of Life?' Only the angels know........

of the final battle of the Hundred Years war.
