Week 37 2013

The sun came out for Capitourlan

Hello,

Thank you for all the hairdresser recommendations – all gratefully received. Not that anyone got to see my hair this weekend with the rain that we had.  It didn’t stop play too much on Sunday, and by the time we arrived at Chateau Belcier for Brunch the sun was pushing through the clouds.  What a lovely setting, overlooking the slopes of Castillon, tasting wine and listening to Jazz – my kind of Sunday.
Rain didn't stop things at St Florence

Next weekend is the Journees and Nuit du Patrimoine (Heritage days and nights) where monuments throughout France are open to the public for free, and there is always a magnificent music and firework show in St Emilion.  Make your way to the centre of the village and you will have a treat of a free display starting at around 22h.  To see the full programme for St Emilion go to http://www.saint-emilion-tourisme.com/bdd_fichiers/1378290262.pdf

Whatever you see or visit, have a great week,

Week 36 2013

Hello,
Castillon by the river

The beautiful weather, and the knowledge that the night market season is drawing to a close lead us out in force to both the last Castillon night market and the only Doulezon one. They were equally entertaining and well supported.  One of the nice things is that you can buy the really local wines at
these events.
Doulezon under cover
Sunday took us off to the vide grenier in Blasimon which started in the village square and sprawled out in the surrounding streets and into the shady park behind the Salle.  I managed to restrain myself from returning home with yet another glass vase…

Blasimon vide-greniers spreads out under the trees
It’s the return to school this week, but there are still plenty of events in and around the Gironde and Dordogne region.  If you hear of an event and would like me to list it, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

Have a good week,

Best wishes,

Helen
